If you enjoy your Danny Boyle films(director; Trainspotting, The Beach) 28 Days Later should be quite the treat. I found myself at the box office not knowing very much about the film which is really how I prefer to do it. You know, real virgin like. Anyhow, the film revolves around a man named Jim (Cillian Murphy; One The Edge,Disco Pigs) who awakes one day from a deep coma only to discover the city of London has been evacuated due to a devastating virus which throws all who come in contact with it into a killer zombie rage. While roaming through the dangerously deserted streets Jim encounters a wandering Londoner much like himself. Except for the fact that she’s a hot chic named Selena (Naomi Harris; Anasasi,Living In Hope). There’s really nothing quite as cool as a hot British chic hacking up the undead with a machete. Together the two survivors discover a radio transmition which could lead them to possible safety. Yet, if they do make it past the blood spewing zombies what awaits them on the other side? Boyle’s use of digital camera work is very effective and innovative. It gives the zombies their own unique and distorted point of view. As you probably guessed this is not your typical horror flick. Screenwriter, Alex Garland provides many political, social, and economic views and is wary of cramming them down the viewers throat. Now, don’t get me wrong, this movie scared me shitless. It gave me nightmares man, and the sudden undeniable appetite for brains. But don’t take my word for it. See it today.
